Danube-Ipel Greenway
Embraced by Mountain Börzsöny, Danube-Ipel Greenway runs between Budapest and Parassapuszta, along the Rivers Danube and Ipel. The basis of the greenway consists of the biking routes of this area. Soon, a whole network of riding, biking, walking and water routes are going to join the Danube-Ipel Greenway, along with services, programs and co-operations.
The term ’greenway’ has a lot of meanings. In many places, it refers to a simple cycle track, while in other countries it is a whole network of services. Danube-Ipel Greenway is not only a route. It represents an environment-conscious way of thinking as well. According to this mentality, greenway is the totality of possibilities inside a given area. These possibilities join and protect natural, cultural and historical heritage. They contribute to traffic, relaxing and tourism.They help to protect local values, to strengthen communities, to spread a healty lifestyle and assist the sustainable developement of the economy.
Cycling tracks, rivers, forests, cultural institutions, tourist attractions, community places, programs…all of these fit in the idea of ’greenway’
